Adult Choir

Come and sing with the choir as we lead the congregation in songs of praise and thanksgiving to the Lord!  - Come and sing with the choir!  New singers are always welcome!  From September through May, we lead the congregation in hymns of praise and thanksgiving to our Lord, lead the singing of liturgical music, provide cantors for worship, and sing a choir anthem every week.  We also join with the Hand Bell Choir for several anthems during the year.  We also gather for fun and fellowship several times each year, including our annual Fall potluck dinner.          Join us for practice weekly on Thursdays at 7:30PM and Sunday mornings at 8:00AM in the Music Room.  Our repertoire ranges from Gregorian chant to gospel and includes music from cultures around the world.  In 2003 nine members of the choir performed Mozart's Requiem at Carnegie Hall with a mass choir conducted by John Rutter, and in 2005 fifteen members performed the Mozart Requien with the Kishwaukee Symphony. The choir is directed by Mr. John Feken, who is also a member of the hand bell choir and serves as a substitute organist/pianist for First Lutheran and Waterman United Methodist Church.  As Director of the Indian Creek Music Department, since 1993, Mr. Feken has adjudicated solo and ensemble and organizational contests and, has taught fifth - twelfth grade band and sixth - twelfth grade choir.  John received his B.A from Millikin University in Decatur, IL and his M.Ed. from Aurora University, and is a member of the Illinois Music Educators Association and the American Choral Directors Association.
