When we invite, include and involve children in worship, we help carry out the promises made in baptism, and strengthen their faith, to the glory of God!
Music ministry with children makes a connection between Christian education and worship.
During Sunday School music time, Children's Choir, and Prime Time Wednesday Music Time, our children:
learn basic concepts about our Christian faith and
learn more about God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit at the same time they are singing,
playing instruments and having fun!
SUNDAY SCHOOL
Katja Weimer leads music time with our youngest children at the start of each session.
Jean Nelson leads music time for all children in grades 1-6; each group meets for 20 minutes.
PRIME TIME WEDNESDAY MUSIC TIME On Wednesday evenings, 45 minutes of music time is offered for children in grades 3-6.
Every other week we add to the fun with skits, games and music.
Children in preschool - grade 2 meet for 20 minutes.
We learn songs for worship, play rhythm instruments, handchimes and drums.

Jean has served as the Coordinator of Music Ministries and Director of Children's Music at First Lutheran since August 2007. She leads music time with children during Sunday School and Prime Time Wednesdays, directs the Children's Choir, and involves the children in singing and playing rhythm instruments for worship on a regular basis. Jean is also a substitute organist/pianist for worship and welcomes any opportunity to play flute. She earned her certification in Youth and Family Ministry from Wartburg Theological Seminary in 2006, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Valparaiso University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
