SAVED BY GRACE - We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. No one can earn salvation through good works or rule following. It's all about grace - God's great love for all people, made real for us through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
THE BIBLE - The Bible is the Word of God. It tells us what God wants to say to us. The Bible draws us into a living relationship with Jesus Christ. It brings us to Christ and keeps us grounded in him. The core of scripture is the Good News that we are saved by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ. Lutherans understand that God speaks through the Bible, we interpret it and seek to understand it, and we believe what we understand it to say. We also recognize that the Bible can be and has been misinterpreted and misunderstood. We rely on divine revelation, reason and experience to help us understand what the Bible says.
THE GOSPEL - The Gospel is the Good News of salvation by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who came down to us to give us the promise and sure hope of salvation in and through his life, death and resurrection.
THE CHURCH - The church is not just a building or organization. The church is the gathered people of God. The work of the church (ministry) is not just a job for pastors and church professionals. Rather, all who believe in Jesus Christ are called to be ministers, proclaiming the gospel in word and deed, everywhere, everyday.
THE SACRAMENTS - Baptism and Holy Communion are ways in which God's grace comes to us. Through the sacraments, God gives us new life - a fresh start - a second chance to have an intimate, personal relationship with God. We are set free from sin - and set free for serving God and other people in God's name.
SERVING OTHERS - We believe that God calls us to serve others. As followers of Jesus Christ, we accept God's invitation to serve others by helping meet their physical and spiritual needs.
