When First Lutheran Church was founded in 1858, all the services were in Swedish.
Above the altar in the worship room can still be found the words:
"Saliga äro de som höra Gud's ord och gömma
det"
which translates:
"Holy (or Blessed) are they who hear God's word
and do it (internalize it)"
